Machinary

Sewing Machines are not as confusing to choose as you would think. There are several videos all over youtube from various types of apparal designers, crafts specialist, and many other professions whom use sewing machines in their line of work. The best machine for beginners is one that I have purchase, and in general with its various capabilities, would be the Brother CS6000i.

Cutting

The three types of scissors are shown below. One pair should be ONLY used to cut fabric. The other large pair should be used to cut nonfabrics, like pattern paper. The small pair are used to cut threads from the sewing machine and garments.

Measuring

Measuring tools are essential to getting accurate & precise cuts on garments. There are specific measuring tools for each part of the garment you will be creating. For instance, the french curve is for neckholes and armholes.

Marking/Paper

Marking your fabric before cutting allows for the most accurate patterns. First, draft your designs using a sketchbook and the frixion markers, then trace the pattern on the craft paper, and use tailors chalk to outline pattern on fabrics.
